Hi-Tea Buffet with Kids Activities at Cafe Mosaic, Carlton Hotel Singapore

We checked out Cafe Mosaic over the long weekend finding out from a friend about the kiddy activities they hold here during the weekend hi-tea. Sounds like a good place to catch up with some friends while the kids also get entertained.

The kids were welcomed by this sight of colourful balloons. No kids can resist this.

The Food

I wasn’t really looking forward to amazing food selection before coming, knowing it’s just a hi-tea buffet so I guess without high expectation, there wasn’t much disappointment.

The main course selection was not wide, but enough for a light lunch. Food was ok but nothing to shout about.

Main Course of cooked and raw food

For the seafood section, they only had salmon sashimi, mussels, raw oysters and fresh prawns. Beside this was the salad bar where you can toss your own healthy salad.

The sushi range was limited, but i find the sushi quite nice. Too bad there wasn’t soba.

Then there is a singapore rojak counter, where you can toast your fried fritters and mix your rojak to the right taste. There are also some keropoks, crackers and fried fish fingers for the kids.

Then comes a row of cooked savoury food. A mixture of Chinese and Western food, you can find, aglio olio, seafood cottage pie, teriyaki baked salmon, mutton steak, broccoli with mixed vegetables and hainanese chicken rice  complete with dark sauce, ginger and chicken rice chilli. Then there is a chinese herbal soup and a cream light curry soup. I personally find the chicken rice and rojak the best dishes among them.

Desserts and coffee

Then comes the desserts, fruits and coffee/tea after the main course. The desserts were ok but the ice cream was a disappointment. The few of us separately commented on the ice cream. We were expecting some premium ice cream, but it seems not.

The Kids Activities

Ok, so the food was nothing the shout about, hopefully the kids activities can make the mark?

The balloonist makes really nice balloons. The kids love them a lot and the best part was that it’s unlimited per kid. We saw some kids being reject for a 2nd balloon because they were not guests of the cafe but were there to attend some party.

Then there’s a rather long storytelling segment which the same balloonist was reading, probably quite a number of books to the kids. During the session, kids were required to answer questions and ‘earn’ tokens which they can use it to exchange for gifts after the session.

And they really did exchange for many gifts!

After a chaotic gift exchange, the kids proceeded to a cupcake making session. They had to pipe the cupcake premix into mini muffin cups and add in their favourite toppings. That’s it. The baking will be done by the chef. We just need to come back in half an hour’s time to collect the cakes

This was the last activity of the day. Kids had fun and the best part was also the catching up session of the grown ups 🙂

Great catching up!
